The "True" IIT Admission Rank (JEE Advanced)
Based on the previous years'trends, it is analysed that:
- Top 7 IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Madras, etc.): The candidates should be ranked under AIR 8000.
- Computer Science at Top IITs: One must definitely rank under AIR 500.
- Any IIT Seat (General Category): As per the previous years' JoSAA counselling trends, the closing ranks for the general category should be under AIR 16,500 – 17,000 (for the newer IITs or less popular branches).
06 30 PM IST - 10 Apr'26

Though this is absolutely a very good rank, it does not guarantee you a seat in any of the IITs. For the same, the candidates should definitely appear for the JEE Advanced exam and obtain a good rank there too.
Nonetheless, this rank (AIR 400) is a very good score for securing a seat in any of the top-ranked NITs, and they do not need to appear in any other entrance exams for the same.
