The Jawarhala Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTU-K) has planned to establish a Centralised Online Computer Centre at the Dr B R Ambedkar Library Building on the campus. As per the JNTU Act, the varsity should have established a Library which is linked to all college libraries as well as those of affiliated colleges.
JNTU Kakinada had spent a total of ₹10 crores on building the Dr BR Ambedkar Central Library. Setting up a central library will help JNTU Kakinada to improve its NAAC grade. The plan is that the varsity's Engineering College will be transformed into the central library.
Sources state that the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada has also announced that they will be working towards developing an online facility for its students. The Vice-Chancellor of JNTU-K, M Ramalinga Raju, announced that the Centralised Online Computer Centre will be set up in one of the floors of the Dr BR Ambedkar Central Library.
The VC also stated that the Computer Centre has been designed to hold a seating capacity of 500 students. He added that the students will be able to use the computer facilities to prepare for various examinations including competitive examinations. Furthermore, the functions of the library will also be digitized, the VC stated.
The students at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and its affiliated colleges have raised the issues pertaining to the lack of proper infrastructure to aid their academic pursuits. The varsity has announced that they will be taking the necessary steps to meet the academic needs of the student at the varsity for their holistic development.
