JNTUH Implements CBCS in the Engineering Colleges of Telangana
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad has finally come to a conclusion to implement Choice Based Credit System in all the engineering colleges of Telangana. Last year, the CBCS have been implemented only in the University engineering colleges and Autonomous colleges. This year, it will be implemented in all the engineering colleges affiliated to JNTUH.
Until last year, the students of the first year B.Tech and B.Pharmacy used to write examinations at the end of academic year. There was no semester system for the first year students. The semester was being initiated from the second year. The reason was the classes for first year engineering students used to commence late due to delay in the counselling and allotment of seats. On the other hand, most of the students are from Telugu medium who faced difficulty in understanding the concepts.
This year, the university has taken steps to end the previous system and initiated semester system for the first year students. A semester consists of 90 days and each semester consist of 24 credits and total 8 semesters consist of 192 credits.
The University is also taking steps for the regular attendance of students as well as lecturers. For this purpose, the University is planning to implement Biometric system, so that, the students attend the college regularly. Students without minimum attendance will not be allowed to write the semester exam.
