According to the National Career Services portal, there are around 8.1 million job seekers against only 1,17,958 number of jobs available. The NCS portal under the Ministry of Labour and Employment is an initiative that informs the employment seeking groups about the vacancies in government and private jobs.
NCS was launched in July 2015 and the prime aim of the portal was to modernise all government-run employment groups. The data reveals that 4.27 crore job seekers have registered themselves on the portal against 9.63 lakh number of jobs. Also, the data released by Ministry on 16th July 2018, mentions that 45 million unemployed youth have registered themselves.

The NCS is a portal that has all the details of the employer, local help, career counsellor and other services available. To avail the services, candidates will have to register on the portal which is free of cost. As far as the government jobs are concerned,114 government bodies are listed on the same.

Meanwhile, HRD Ministry said that the government is planning to introduce professional bachelor programmes to increase the employability of graduates. This is because most of the graduates apply for skill-based courses after degree courses in order to get relevant job opportunities.
