The 2018 graduating batch of IIT Bombay recorded an outstanding academic performance. Over 34% of students passed with a CPI between 8 and 9.

55% of IIT Bombay Students Prefer Tech-Jobs or Higher Studies

According to a latest survey, 55.2% of IIT Bombay students who graduated in the year 2018 have preferred either technology-related jobs or higher studies. Over 192 UG & PG students took part in the survey and revealed their plans.

As per the survey, 42.2% of students revealed that they have attempted or are planning to attempt GRE exam, while 55% of students are gearing up for management entrance exams such as CAT and GMAT. Around 12% of students are willing to appear for the civil services exam in future. The most interesting aspect of the survey is that an increase in the number of students who are planning to take up entrepreneurship.

Since 2016, there has been a continuous decline in the number of technology jobs, finance and consulting jobs.

The 2018 graduating batch of IIT Bombay recorded an outstanding academic performance. Over 34% of students passed with a CPI between 8 and 9 while 18.84% of students scored a CPI greater than 9%. Only 2.6% of students scored CPI between 4 and 6.

As far as the number of graduating students concerned, 83% of students graduated with a B.Tech degree, 1% with integrated M.Sc degree and 16.22% of students graduated with a dual degree.

The survey also considered students’ views on internship and its influence on one's career. Close to 42.2% of students responded that internships play a vital role in shaping the career while 38.5% of students indicated that internships have minimal influence. Nine percent of students confirmed that internships make no difference in shaping the career.
