The Joint Seat Allocation Authority or JoSAA has declared the Round 5 seat allotment on July 16, 2017. Students who have applied for JoSAA counselling can check their seat allotment status on the official website. The candidates must log in to the official website with their JEE Roll Number and Password to check the seat allotment status. The process after the checking of seat allotment status is given below: -
- Pay the seat acceptance fee, i.e., Rs. 40,000 for the candidates of General category and Rs.20,000 for reserved categories.
- Download the provisional seat allotment letter.
- The candidates who must do dual reporting have to visit the nearest reporting centre and confirm the seats.
- Candidates who were reported to NIT/ IIIT/ GFTI and have been allotted seat in ISM or IIT in the fifth round must report again.
- The candidates must carry all the mandatory documents at the time of reporting.
- July 17, 2017, is the deadline for reporting to allotted institutes.
- JoSAA will declare the Round 6 seat allotment on July 18, 2017.

Earlier, JoSAA released Round 4 seat allotment on July 13, 2017. However, after the completion of Round 3, only one seat was left vacant in IITs. Similarly, 399 seats were vacant on NITs, GFTIs and IIITs.

The subsequent rounds will have only vacant seats in NITs, GFTIs and IIITs. The authorities are hoping that the admission process will close by the sixth round. This year, JoSAA planned to conduct seven rounds of seat allotment.
