Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Haryana, Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College (KCGMC), Karnal has decided to roll back its decision to conduct practical classes for first-year MBBS students. Even amid the crisis, the institute was conducting practical classes for the students between 8 am and 10 am. However, now the practical sessions have been cancelled.
Dr. Himanshu Madaan, Dean (Academics), KCGMC, Karnal informed about the same and said that the college is following the instructions of the university.
The practical classes for 1st Year MBBS Students started from 2019 with an aim to not only provide students with theoretical knowledge but to enhance their practical skills as well. The majority of the MBBS students lacked practical skills as the course mainly focuses on theory. To bridge the gap between the two the decision regarding the same was taken.
Meanwhile, many requests have started coming again from educationists, students, and parents to postpone the NEET exam which is to take place on September 13. The exam has been postponed twice. However, educationists are of the view that there is no change in the situation and the cases are still increasing. NTA is working on increasing the exam centres to ensure the safety of students and to maintain social distancing.
