Understanding the KCET 2022 Repeaters Issue

Here are some of the important facts pertaining to the KCET 2022 repeaters issue –

  • Almost 25,000 students who appeared for PUC exams in 2021 appeared for KCET 2022
  • As per the KCET 2022 rules and regulations, 50% weightage in the admission process is given to PUC 2 marks and 50% weightage for CET marks
  • However, the rule has been implemented/ applied for those candidates who passed PUC in 2022 and appeared for KCET this year
  • 25,000 candidates who appeared for PUC 2 exams last year and appeared for KCET this year were not awarded any weightage for PUC 2 marks
  • One of the reasons why KEA did not consider PUC marks of repeaters is that the exams were not conducted in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, giving weightage for Class 12 marks for repeaters will disrupt the entire merit and ranking system
  • On August 22, the hearing has been taken up again but no concrete decision has been taken yet
