An initiative/scheme that had been launched by the Department of Science and Technology in the year 1999, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY), which is aimed at increasing the interest in research and science in school students, will conduct an aptitude test on November 3, 2019. Sources state that the test will be conducted in both Hindi as well as the English language across various centres situated in India.
KVPY Eligibility Criteria 2019
The basic KVPY 2019 eligibility criteria required to appear for the aptitude test requires the candidates to be currently enrolled in the stream of science in both class 11 and class 12. It is also imperative for the students to have obtained a minimum aggregate score of 75% in Mathematics and Science. The scheme is also open to the students who are currently pursuing the first year of an undergraduate programme. It is also open to the students pursuing their 2nd year of Cambridge International Examination Board.
Once the candidates have cleared the aptitude test, the scheme for those students will only be activated if they have chosen one of the basic science programmes at the undergraduate level along with scoring a minimum aggregate score of 60% in the qualifying examinations, i.e. Class 12 board examinations. The students who qualify the aptitude test and are currently in class 11, will have the opportunity to be invited for the National Science Camp within one year before they complete the class 12 board examinations.
KVPY Selection Process 2019
The candidates who have applied for the KVPY will have to go through the KVPY 2019 selection process. As per the regulations, the candidates who have applied for availing the scheme will have to sit for an aptitude test as well as an Interview. The candidates will be selected by a group or a committee at the Indian Institute of Science. They will be judged on the basis of their performance in the aptitude test as well as the interview that has been conducted. A merit list of all the candidates who appeared for the aptitude test will be released. The candidates whose names have been mentioned in the merit list will be called for the interview.
