After a gap of ten years, Lucknow University is going to conduct entrance examination for Post Graduate (PG) courses for the academic session 2017-18. The entrance test will be carried out for all mainstream PG courses like M.Sc, M.Com and M.A. The varsity will hold entrance tests for both UG and PG courses simultaneously to save the time and to regularise the session.
The officials of the varsity assured that undergraduate results would be declared soon to take up the admission process for PG courses faster.
The varsity followed the practice of holding entrance examinations till 2000-01. Later, it started to accept to accept Class XII marks as the criterion for UG admissions. The varsity decided to put a full stop to entrance examinations due to anomalies in the process.
However, the varsity re-introduced entrance exams for UG and PG courses in the year 2005-06 but again relied on marks system in 2007-08. The entrance examination for UG courses was re-introduced in the year 2016.
With an objective to ensure transparency in the admission process, the varsity will not let in any expelled student by mistake, and for this purpose, an error-free student record will be maintained. During the time of admission process, the complete information of the student will be transferred to examination department and proctorial board for cross checking.
The entrance examination will be OMR based, and the number of questions in the examination will be decided later.
