Amidst all the protest, management at IIT Indore has decided to put a hold on the fee hike and has asked the students to pay their old fee. Recently at IIT Indore, students were protesting against the fee hike.According to the deputy registrar (finance and accounts) Pradeep Agrawal, on looking at the widespread discontent among the students, the management decided to put a hold on the rising fees.
Earlier, the management had increased the fee for PhD students from Rs 8,350 per semester to Rs 19,900. This decision led to online protests by the students.
Though the fee hike was done for the first time since 2009, the students did not see it justified due to the poor condition of under-construction buildings and non-availability of equipment for research and practice.
According to the students, hike in the fee is more than 100%.
In the light of the current events, Pradeep Mathur, IIT-Indore director will discuss and try to resolve the matter permanently by making the students understand the revised fee structure, after he comes back from a trip abroad.
