Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Indore - IIT

The Institute Foundation stone of IIT Indore was laid on 17th Feb 2009 at Simrol while its academic programs commenced from July 2009 in a rented premises at Institute of Technology (IET) of Devi Ahilya Vishvavidalya (DAVV) Indore. IIT Indore was mentored by IIT Bombay till its founding Director Prof. Pradeep Mathur took charge on 1st Jan. 2010. From the academic year 2010-11 onwards, it developed its own curriculum for its different UG and PG programs. As the institute grew exponentially in its formative years, it has to rent another campus in Pithampur Auto Cluster Ltd (PACL) premises to meet growing needs of teaching and research activities of various Engineering disciplines. The institute has shifted all academic and research facilities and activities to its permanent campus at Simrol in December 2015 completely vacating its rented campuses at IET and PACL. IIT Indore aims to play an active role in the task of propelling India on her growth-trajectory by focusing on very high quality education, research, development, consultancy and manpower training. International Relationships and Collaborations 1. IIT Indore has Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and collaboration with many acclaimed international Institutes and universities. Some worth-mentioning are University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (USA), University of Wiscosin Madison (USA), New Mexico State University (USA), University of Cambridge, Keele University (UK), TU-9 Universities of Germany, Saarland University (Germany), Saarbrucken University (Germany), Fraunhofer-Gesellschaftzur Forderung der angewandten Forschung (Germany), EcoleInternationale Des Sciences Du Traitement De L’Information (France), Kyushu Institute of Technology (Japan), Deakin University (Australia), Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Almaty (Kazakhstan), Kurnakov Institute of General and inorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IGICRAS) Russia, ALICE Collaboration at CERN Geneva (Switzerland) and with some other reputed international institutes. Such partnership allows the partnering Institutes for mutual exchange visits of students and faculty members and to explore new areas of cooperation in research and academics.  2. IIT Indore has academic collaborations with the nearby organizations of academic excellence which includes Raja Ramanna Center of Advanced Technology (RRCAT) Indore, IIM Indore, SGSITS Indore, Military College of Telecommunications Engineering (MCTE) Mhow, IISER Bhopal, IIITDM Jabalpur, VNIT Nagpur and other reputed Institutes.  3. The institute has collaborations with several reputed industries companies such as Wipro GE Healthcare, IBM India, Siemens, National Instruments, Tata Technologies, Texas Instruments, Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles Ltd. Pithampur, AVTEC Pithampur, WEBCO India, etc.  The Institute has also signed an MOU with French Language and Education for the French language tutor programme. 4. Various courses under Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) scheme of Govt. of India have been approved in which best academic and industry experts from all over the world will share their experiences and expertise to update knowledge of the participants.  Indore City Indore is the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh with many industries in the area of mechanical engineering, pharmacy and electronics. It is an educational-hub and has institutes of international repute, such as Raja Ramanna Center for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM) etc. Indore has young and vibrant student population. The city is well connected by road, rail and air and is strategically located in close proximity to Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmedabad.

Indian Institute of Technology Placements

The Placement Office handles all facets of campus placements for the graduating students of IIT Indore. This involves establishing contact with companies, arranging for tests and group discussions, holding pre-placement talks, conducting final interviews, and any other kind of recruitment related activity. Well equipped with first-rate infrastructure, the Cell caters to all the requirements of organizations, at every stage of the placement process.IIT Indore has come a long way since its inception in 2009. We have graduated our first batch of students with nearly hundred percent placements. Some students have also gone for higher studies and research programs in premier institutes in India and abroad. We are very proud of our students and have faith in their ability to excel at whatever they choose to do in the future.Through its excellent research facilities, world class faculty members and a rigorous curriculum, IIT Indore graduates are second to none in their knowledge base in technology and engineering. Starting this year, students will also have an option to take “minors” which will further strengthen their academic and knowledge skills.

The virtual classroom in IIT Indore is a part of the National Knowledge Network launched on 5th February 2011 by the Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Kapil Sibal. It is a state-of-the-art Pan-India network which envisages connecting all higher centres of learning and research by bringing together all stakeholders from science, technology, higher education, healthcare, agriculture and governance to a common platform. IITI is one out of the three IITs included in this network. It has features such as live video streaming presentations, shared internet access, virtual whiteboard, a media centre, application, file and desktop sharing and public and private text chatThe Central Library at IIT Indore has a fine collection of text books, reference books, periodicals, and electronic resources which is undergoing continuous expansion. The books are on various disciplines such as Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Philosophy etc. It also has a good collection of books on Literature and English Language, Sports, Biographies, and General Interest titles as well as a variety of magazines and all the prominent local and national daily newspapers.Online Information Resources are vital for academic and research institutes in today’s knowledge economy. The library provides access to hundreds of electronic journals through databases like Elsevier’s Science, ASME (American Society for Mechanical Engineers), DEL (Digital Engineering Library) and IEL Online (IEEE Xplore Digital Library).
