MCI Introduces a course in Bio-Medical for students as well as the faculty to upgrade the basic knowledge of Research. This 8-week long course is mandatory for all PG Medical students and faculty.
Medical Council of India, MCI has recently come up with a mandatory course in Reseach operations by the name Basic Course in Bio-Medical Research. All the postgraduate medical students studying under MCI recognized institutions have to study the course. Apart from students, the Medical Council of India also made the Bio-Medical course mandatory for all the faculty of Medical institutions without any formal training in the research methodologies.

This initiative is to upgrade the present research methodologies of Indian Medical institutes to further enhance the research outputs. Postgraduate students must ensure that they complete the online course before the beginning of the third semester. For the convenience of students, Exams will be conducted twice in a year followed by certificates.
Online Research course can be accessed through the government portal Swayam by students and members of faculty. National Institute of Epidemiology will be conducting the course.

According to the authorities, there will be 23 subdivisions of the course and students have to submit assignments online for each one of them. The assignment format will be MCQ type (Multiple Choice Questions), one assignment will have 10 MCQ. Therefore, the total of assignments would be 230, in order to pass the course, students have to score at least 50% marks.
