Meet Harsh Gupta – Topper of CS (Professional) Exam December 2016

Haryana’s Harsh Gupta is enjoying the fruits of his labour, having secured the second position in the company secretaries (professional) examination. Harsh hails from Bahadurgarh and has set a benchmark for aspirants in the field.

He has also secured 40^th rank in the chartered accountancy (CA) final, fourth position in CA IPCC and 14^th position in CS executive exams.

Harsh has been a bright student throughout his academic career and topped his school in the commerce stream with 95.75% in Class 12. He went on to pursue B.Com (Hons.) at Hans Raj College, Delhi University and graduated with an aggregate of 87%.

His preparation for CS professional programme started in November 2013 after clearing CA inter exam. He didn’t stop at that and cleared CS inter exams in June 2015. Having completed his articleship, he started preparing for CA finals.

Harsh not just achieved extraordinary results in all his exams but also enjoyed his student journey by mixing studies with sports. He balanced his coaching classes with self-studies and a little bit of fun. He loves watching shows like Suits and Sherlock and enjoys playing cricket and badminton.

Having cleared the exams successfully, Harsh said that his main aim was to take out three to four months’ time for revision after completing his articleship. Technology also helped him prepare for these exams. He added that he used apps like ICAI Now and Taxmann to keep himself updated.

Harsh also talked about his studying schedule and said that he studied for about eight to 10 hours every day and some days stretching up to 14 or 15 hours. He also said that topics like tax, law, audit, accounts, IT, costing and strategic management were tricky as they are very diverse in nature.

Harsh added that proper planning helped him in achieving his goals. With the support of his family and determination, Harsh was able to clear all his exams in the first attempt.
