MHRD Praises NCERT for its Efforts to Promote Quality Education

The 56th Foundation Day celebrations of NCERT were held at a grand level on September 1, 2016. The council received ample recognition from the guests for its sincere efforts in improving the quality of education.

Mr. Upendra Kushwaha, State HRD Minister, said that the all the efforts which are being carried out by the Union Government to improve the quality of school education are forming a basis for our education system. The NCERT has played an exceptional role in promoting research, training, curriculum development and extension.

He advised the Council to dissimulate information so as to reach the schools in every corner of the country. He opined that every school must have an excellent science laboratory which will develop the scientific urge in the students.

On the other hand, he expressed his concern that various schools have come into existence during the past decade, and these schools are yet to become institutions of learning in the real sense.

Mr. Subash Chandra Khuntia, Union Secretary, School Education and Literacy praised the good work done by NCERT in the field of elementary education. The Council is developing e-content for all the classes and subjects. He further hopes that the Council would include topics related to environmental education and population education.

Prof. Hrushikesh Senapaty, Director of NCERT, said that the NCERT has done a lot in the past and is determined to do more in the future. The Council has tied up with various countries like South Korea, Srilanka, Bhutan, Indonesia and Afghanistan to study the educational aspects. The Council has collaborated with UNESCO to promote some projects in Meghalaya and Madhya Pradesh.

Various stalls of the constituent Regional institutes of Education, Bhopal, Ajmer, Bhubaneshwar, Mysore and Shillong were set up during the event. The students of these regional institutions performed various cultural activities on various themes like general equality, unity in diversity and inclusive education.

On this occasion, five new publications of NCERT were released by the State HRD Minister. The new publications are:-

  • Vanaspati Vithika (in Sanskrit)
  • Dictionary of Economics
  • Trilingual School
  • Takhleequi Jauhar (in Urdu) Part-II for Class XII and
  • Guidelines for Science & Mathematics Model Laboratories
