The HRD Ministry has decided to rate medical, dental and law colleges for the convenience of students. This list will help aspiring students to understand the standard of education, placement and other facilities provided by a college. The ranking list will be released by the HRD ministry on April 4, 2017.
The first-ever national ranking list was released by HRD ministry in 2016. This list comprised institutes from various categories including Management, Technical, Pharmacy institutions and Universities.
According to a source, close to 49 law colleges along with 43 medical or dental institutions will be ranked by the ministry this year. The number of colleges will be increased in the years to come.
The rankings will be released by President Pranab Mukherjee in April 2017 at an event that will also be attended by HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar.
The institutes will also be assessed on the basis of the number of patents and elemental research conducted by them. These two aspects will be given weightage in the ranking process.
The ranking list of 2017 will comprise colleges from all fields that will be competing with one another. Separate lists for different category of institutes will not be published this year. However, the ministry might publish additional category wise list apart from the main list.
An official source informed that the list will comprise the hundred best colleges in India. This will comprise universities, IIMs, Medical, IITs and law colleges depending on their performance.
