MICA: Majority of Students Starting the 2017-19 Batch are Engineers

MICA: Majority of Students Starting the 2017-19 Batch are Engineers

Academic session 2017-18 has commenced at MICA with students from diverse backgrounds starting the PGP programme and other management courses. According to the press release of MICA, majority of the students in its PGP programme are engineers.

Classes for the 7th batch of FPM, the 24th batch of PGP in Management-Communications and 27th batch of CCC have started at MICA.

According to officials, a total of 179 students took admission in MICA’s flagship programme – PGP in Management-Communications – of which 63% are from the engineering background. The Institute also stated that most of the students were between the age group of 22 to 24 years. Only 32% of the students were 21 years old or younger than that.

MICA has also started a two-week orientation programme for all fresher students to help them interact with their fellow MICAns and get familiar with the curriculum. The orientation was inaugurated by the Director Shailendra Raj Mehta.

The Director encouraged the students to sharpen their thinking skills and indulge in creative processes. He also asked the students to reflect on Acharya Vinoba Bhave's theme of Prakriti, Sanskriti and Vikriti.

The press release also stated that the female to male ratio for the 2017-18 batch is 47:53. The institute also mentioned that it has maintained this gender diversity for the past few years. Also, students from different states have enrolled for the programme balancing the social diversity.

Apart from engineers, the batch also comprises students from Commerce, Management, Economics, Humanities as well as Communications background. MICA also informed that 72% of the batch has had previous work experience.
