MICA Overview

Formerly Mudra Institute of Communication, MICA Ahmedabad is an autonomous and non-profit post-graduate institute located in the Indian state of Gujrat. MICA is the only residential institute in the Asia-Pacific region committed to developing strategic marketing and communication leadership. 

MICA Ahmedabad was established in the year 1991 as an autonomous postgraduate academic institute by A. G. Krishnamurthy of Mudra Communications. MICA moved to its new location at Shela in 1993.

MICA Ahmedabad is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The institute offers Advertisement, Digital Marketing, Sales, and Marketing Communication are among the 8 online programmes. MICA Ahmedabad Selection Process 2022

Listed below is the selection process for MICA Ahmedabad admissions 2022: 

For PGDM/PGDM-C admissions 2022 – MICA Ahmedabad will select students based on their merit in the CAT/XAT/GMAT exams, which will be followed by institute’s self-administered MICAT entrance exam followed by Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI). 

For PGCP admissions 2022– MICA Ahmedabad will select students based on their merit in the Online Entrance Test (Written) administered by the institute followed by Personal Interview (PI). 

For FPM(C) admissions 2022– MICA Ahmedabad will select students based on their merit in the Online Entrance Test (Written) administered by the institute followed by an individual Presentation and Personal Interview (PI).

All applicants who have been shortlisted based on their CAT/XAT/GMAT & MICAT scores are required to participate in both the Group Exercise (GE) and the Personal Interview (PI).

Preparation of a candidate shortlist for GE and PI

1. MICAT (Psychometric test) Section A is a qualifier.

  • Those who pass the Psychometric will be evaluated based on their relative performance on the CAT/XAT/GMAT. Candidates who achieve a minimal CAT/XAT total percentile/GMAT score cut-off will be considered.
  • Those who qualify based on their CAT/XAT/GMAT scores will have their MICAT Section 

2. Evaluation of score

  • Those who qualify on the basis of relative performance, subject to a minimum cut-off in Section B of the MICAT's *Normalized Scores, will have their Section C of the MICAT examined. Each exam section will have its own set of rules.
  • Those who qualify based on a, b, c, and d above (on the basis of relative performance subject to a minimum cut-off in MICAT Section C Normalized Scores) will be considered for GE and PI short listing. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai for a GE and PI.

The candidate list for GE and PI is based on a composite score formula that includes 50% CAT/XAT/GMAT and 50% MICAT scores.

  1. Final Merit List 

Admission will be given on the basis of merit, with the programme of choice being taken into account afterwards. Once a candidate is offered admission to the programme of his or her first preference based on the merit list, his or her name is automatically removed from the list of candidates for the programme of his or her second priority.

If a candidate is offered admission in the programme of his or her second priority as a result of the movement of the merit list, the candidate has the option to accept the offer with the understanding that he or she will withdraw his or her name from the list of the programme of his or her first priority OR he or she may refuse the offer and continue to pursue the programme of his or her first priority.

All candidates who appear in both the GE and PI must be re-recommended by a majority of the PI panelists in order to be eligible for the final merit list.

Those that meet the aforementioned conditions will have their final composite score calculated using the following weighting:

  • CAT/XAT/GMAT: 20%
  • MICAT: 30%
  • GE: 20%
  • PI: 30%

MICA Ahmedabad application process 2022 is only available online. Interested candidates can visit the official website of the institute and fill the application form accordingly. Listed below is the online application process for MICA Ahmedabad admissions 2022:

How to Apply for Admissions at MICA Ahmedabad for 2022?

Register for Entrance Exams

CAT 2021, XAT 2022, or GMAT are the three tests that applicants must register for and take (2020 onwards) for MICA Ahmedabad admissions 2022. MICA's admissions 2022 criteria states that the institute would accept scores from the CAT 2021/ XAT 2022 and GMAT (2020 onwards) exams for admission. All applicants applying for MICA admission 2022 must also take the MICAT exam, which will be held at various locations across India.

Take the MICAT Entrance Exam

Scholarship at MICA Ahmedabad

MICA Scholarships These scholarships are given annually and are based on student's overall academic record as well as their family's income. Students enrolled in MICA Ahmedabad’s 2-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Communications) - PGDM(C) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management - PGDM, as well as the 1-year Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Crafting Creative Communications (CCC), are eligible for the scholarships. 

Poonam Gyanchandani Memorial Scholarship- MICA has signed an MOU with the RSPL Welfare Foundation (RWF), under which the RWF will grant scholarships to MICA's second-year PGDM(C) and PGDM students based on merit and financial need.

Equity Scholarship - Prof. Bikram Bindra has also signed an MOU with MICA, under which Prof. Bikram Bindra would finance a scholarship for first-year students in MICA's PGDM(C) and PGDM programmes on a merit cum means/means cum merit basis. Students from PGP-1 who represent a minority status or belong to a minority community, are eligible to apply for this scholarship. 

Following criteria are used to select students (both PGP and CCC) for Scholarship: 

  • Family annual income doesn’t exceed Rs. 10 lakhs.
  • If the student achieves minimum CGPA of 3.00 and minimum of 80% attendance across all classes in the first academic year (applicable to PGP-2).
  • Other accomplishments (e.g., winning competitions at the state, national, and international levels)
  • Examining the last three years' income tax returns and bank statements
  • A brief explanation as to why a particular student wants to apply for the scholarship (Separate in case of applying for Equity Scholarship)
  • Family history and background 

Scholarship Selection Process

  • Students are notified of the scholarship programme.
  • Applications and their corresponding financial documents are scrutinized in accordance with required criteria.
  • The Scholarships Committee (composed of MICA faculty and staff; for RWF Scholarships for PGP-2, there will be a representation from the senior management level from RWF) interview and interact with the shortlisted applicants. For PGP-1, Prof. Bikram Bindra serve on the committee for the Equity Scholarship.
  • Committee then submits its recommendations for the shortlisted students. 
  • Interview with the Director of the RSPL (applicable to PGP-2)
  • Eligible and qualifying students are notified.

Things to Know About MICA Ahmedabad Scholarships 

  • There is a total of 28 scholarships awarded (to PGP-1, PGP-2, and CCC students), including a sponsored scholarship from RWF for 7 PGP-2 students, where RWF provides Rs. 5 lakhs each to the selected students, and a sponsored scholarship from Prof. Bikram Bindra for 1/2 student(s), where Prof. Bindra provides Rs. 5 lakhs to the student(s).
  • There are 12 scholarships available for PGP-2 students, with 7 coming from RWF and up to 5 from MICA (MICA provides up to 25 percent of the annual fees per student in the programme).
  • Up to 14-15 scholarships are offered for PGP-1, with 1-2 coming from Prof. Bikram Bindra and up to 13 coming from MICA. It is up to 2 for CCC (MICA will provide up to 25 percent of the annual fees per student in the respective programme).
  • The final decision of awarding the scholarships rests with MICA Ahmedabad Management.

MICA Ahmedabad - Campus & Infrastructure

MICA Ahmedabad campus has a welcoming atmosphere for students. The institute offers separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, as well as a well-stocked library and a modern theatre. MICA Ahmedabad features both indoor and outdoor sports facilities for students interested in sports. Students and faculty members can connect to the internet via WIFI on campus. Apart from these, MICA Ahmedabad Mudra also has advanced department-based laboratories at its premises.
