Despite all the odds in the life due to poverty Chandan Roy made his family and whole Midnapur district of West Bengal proud when he got a seat into the coveted IIT.

Chandan Roy's father is a priest who struggles to make his ends meet. The family is in dire need of help. But despite all the odds in the life due to poverty Chandan Roy made his family and whole Midnapur district of West Bengal proud when he got a seat into the coveted IIT.

Despite the poverty, he did not stop pursuing his dream. While talking to the media Chandan said that he did not take any coaching. It was the school and the tuition teachers that helped him the most. He wanted to become a scientist. His father owns a small grocery shop and is surviving on small means. Chandan wants to help his father.

It was sheer hard work and dedication that made him secure 314 in JEE Advanced at the All India Rank and 78 in JEE Main examination.

His teachers were quite hopeful of him and during his preparation for the exam, his teachers helped him by proving books. He is an inspiration for the entire village. So far Chandan has received Rs. 50,000 as scholarship while the rest of the help he has got from the teachers and relatives.

Now his teachers and relatives are looking for help from the Government of West Bengal. But his father Suchinta Roy is still a worried man. He wonders if the family is still cash-starved, he would not be able to pay for rest of his education. He wants the government to help them otherwise, Chandan will have to end his study. Chandan's father is seeking monetary help from the government.

He was felicitated by West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi recently and on October 22, Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee will felicitate him for his success.
