Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has announced that 5 Crore students belonging to the economically weaker sections of the society from the minority communities will receiving scholarships in the next five years. Girls will constitute 50% of the recipients for these scholarships.
The newly elected Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has announced that in the next five years, over 5 crore students from the minority groups will receive scholarships like the pre-matric, post-matric and the merit-cum-means scholarships, out of which, 50% will be female students.
While attending the 65th General Body meeting of the Maulana Azad Education Foundation at Antyodhaya Bhawan, he had stated that with the reinstation of the Modi Government after the 2019 elections will help in creating an atmosphere for healthy inclusive growth. He also added that the Centre is dedicated to the motto of inclusive growth with trust (Samaveshi Vikas, Sarvsparshi Vishwas).
As per the words of Naqvi, the centre plans to bring in various changes that will help in improving the education scenario of the country, especially for the children and girls who belong to the Minority sections of the society. He added that the various Madarassa Teachers all across India will be receiving training from prestigious educational institutions in the areas of Science, Mathematics, Computer, Hindi and English. This is has been done so as to ensure that the students who find it financially difficult to gain an education in the mainstream subjects as these, will be able to receive from the Madrassa teachers under the scholarship schemes that the government has planned to release. He calls the programme the Madrassa programme, which is set to begin from next month, i.e. July of 2019.
He stated that the scholarship schemes will be provided to the student belonging to the minority groups like Jains, Sikhs, Muslims, Parsis and Christians. He added that the scholarships are awarded to the student keeping in mind the “3Es - Education, Employment and Empowerment”. Among the scholarships that will be provided to the 5 crore students across the country, above 10 lakh scholarship, i.e. Begum Hazrat Mahal Girls Scholarships will be provided to the girl child belonging to the EWS section of the society.

Union Minister Naqvi also stated, with the help of the Pradhanmantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), various educational institutions such as schools, colleges and other common centres will be set up, especially in the areas in need of such infrastructure. He also added that the “Padho, Badho" campaign will be released in full-swing, in order to ensure that the families and parents who refrain from sending their daughters to schools or other educational institutions. The campaign will ensure that India’s Girl Child will receive the education that they deserve.

Naqvi added that the campaign is mainly focused on promoting education for the girl child. The intention of the campaign is to attract people via social and cultural programmes such as Nukad Natak and Short Films. Currently, the centre plans to introduce the campaign in 60 districts with a high concentration of the minority groups of India. He also added that people belonging to the economically weaker sections of the minority communities will be provided with free coaching for both central and state administrative services, railways, staff selection commission, banking services.
