Miranda House which is one of the most popular colleges for women candidates in Delhi University will focus on interdisciplinary research from the upcoming academic year. As per the government ranking, it has been declared as the best college over the last three years. The DU college bagged the first rank among the other 1034 participating colleges that participated in the NIRF ranking 2019. One of the main key strength areas of Miranda House is its research.
Bijayalaxmi Nanda, Acting Principal Miranda House, informed that the college pays special attention to innovation and research and new pedagogical skills. Keeping this in mind, the college has come up with science labs and equipment to provide students with the best learning opportunities. The upcoming academic year the college will focus on strengthening the multidisciplinary research approaches.
She further informed that the college has been carrying out interdisciplinary research between the sciences. For instance, Zoology and Physics department together organise conferences for the students. But now, the focus of the college will be more interdisciplinary research, where social sciences and humanities can collaborate with chemistry and physics.
As of now, Miranda House has a centre that promotes research and innovation in Science Education, pedagogical tools, and others. The college is planning to come up with a facility to carry out interdisciplinary research.

The college has around 1100 undergraduate seats and 325 postgraduate seats in various disciplines such as English, Political Science, Hindi, Philosophy and others. Meanwhile, the students taking admission in the college from the upcoming academic session will be a part of the new peer-based mentoring system that will be introduced from this year. A certificate programme for the same will be introduced.
