Mumbai University Declares 4th List for Admission to LLM Course Before Exams

The first semester exams for LLM students at the University of Mumbai are set to begin in a week. At this juncture, the varsity has declared fourth merit list for the admission to LLM course. A total number of 19 students will get admission to LLM course under the fourth list and the admission process will conclude on January 12, 2018. After getting admission, these students will have only five days to prepare for exams, increasing the difficulty level.

Due to the results mess in 2017, many students, particularly UG law students lost the chance to join other colleges for higher studies. By the time varsity declared the final year results of UG law courses, the admission dates in other colleges and universities were closed. With an objective to compensate students, MU added 60 additional seats in LLM course. After three rounds, 19 seats remained vacant and these seats will be filled now.

The department had taken extra lectures and special classes to complete the first-semester syllabus of LLM course on time. Currently, 641 students are pursuing LLM course at Mumbai University. The first semester exams will begin from January 17, 2018, he added.

On the other hand, a member of Students’ Law Council pointed that the varsity should not conduct the exams without completing 90 teaching days. Therefore, the Law Department must postpone exams to give students enough time for preparation. The students’ association made a representation to the Acting Registrar on the same. The association also confirmed that they would launch a protest if the varsity does not postpone exams.
