National PG College has become the only college from Lucknow to be awarded the `College for potential with Excellence' status by the UGC.
NPGC, among 124 colleges from across India and the total nine from the state, will receive a Rs 1.5-crore grant for the strengthening and development of four main departments of the college over the next five years. Around nine colleges had applied from the city of which NPGC was selected through a five-level scrutiny.
NPG is the only autonomous college of Lucknow University.The College offers under-graduate and post-graduate courses in Arts and Commerce faculties and under-graduate courses in Science and Computer faculties. The college has well equipped Laboratories in all the faculties. In keeping with the modern digital technology and computer education, the college has computer has a computer training center with latest hardware configuration and software.The campus has also being transformed into a Wi-Fi campus.
Principal SP Singh told reporters, “It is for the first time in 50 years of this scheme that Lucknow has become a part of it,“ said principal SP Singh.
Officials said that this grant will be used in creating and providing much better and developed education centre for students.
