The Supreme Court was assured by the central government that the counselling will commence only after the issue of EWS and OBC reservation in the 15% AIQ is not resolved. The Centre constituted a committee for evaluating whether the existing criteria for annual income should be revised or not.
Earlier, the MCC decided to change the bar of annual income to 8 LPA. The court also found this arbitrary. Now, the centre has filed an affidavit accepting the recommendations of the committee. There would be no change in the EWS annual income scheme.
