A lecturer had challenged a translation of a question in NEET 2021 Physics question paper. It failed to mention a key term that can cost students 5 marks in the make of break competition.

Lecturer Reaches PM Modi for Discrepancy in NEET 2021 Physics Question Paper

Ajith Singh Banthia, a Physics lecturer has written an open letter to National Testing Agency (NTA) while addressing PM Narendra Modi. He alleges that the mistranslation of a physics question on alternating current has prejudiced many Hindi medium students who took NEET 2021.

A student secures 4 marks on each correct answer and receives -1 for each incorrect answer. Even one mark can make or break an aspirant’s career in NEET. Therefore, the lecturer claims that NTA will not be doing justice to Hindi medium students by not addressing this.

The answer sheet was released in November 2021 and many students across India filed a complaint on incorrect answers in the same. However, NTA did not take any action on these objections.

The Lecturer highlighted that the English version had mentioned amplitude of current but skipped it altogether in the Hindi version of the question paper. The incomplete information could have confused the students according to the letter. They would have taken the standard value of current as the root mean square value of current.

This error could make the students lose 5 marks and will affect 2 lakh, Hindi medium aspirants. However, the counselling for NEET 2021 is yet to commence. We hope that the NTA would take the necessary steps to clear this deadlock soon.
