Arun Kumar Pujari has been appointed as the new vice chancellor of Central University of Rajasthan (CUR) by Union ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) after protests and hunger strike of the students demanding the full time V-C for the University.
Before that Pujari was serving as dean, school of computer and information sciences at University of Hyderabad.
MM Salunkha, the founder V-C, had completed his tenure on last March 2014 and ever since his retirement the University was running without any permanent vice chancellor and students alleged that it was affecting the day-to-day functioning of the University.
Pujari did his Ph.D from IIT Kanpur and holds a wide experience in academic administration. Before that he worked at JNU and also as the vice chancellor of Sambalpur University from where he completed his post graduate in mathematics.
He has been appointed on contractual basis for a period of five years or up to the age of 70 years,
