National Institute of design (NID) is a design school located in ahmedabad. Four new NID are being set up. Two more institutes in gandhi nagar and bangalore are already under its management which will now mentor the recently set up NID Vijaywada to design better goals for future.
Three more NIDs are setting up in Kurukshetra, Bhopal and Jorhat. The old city- based NID is all ready to mentor the baby institutes in their academic and non academic affairs.
NID-Ahmedabad was established in 1961 to begin design education in India. Like city-based premium institutes, including Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, Indian Space and Research Organization (ISRO) and MICA gave direction to formulate new ideas and solutions, now NID will be the guiding light to its counterparts.
Faculties of the city-based institute will assist the academic affairs of NID-Vijaywada” said by Dr. Pradyumna Vyas, Director of NID Ahmedabad. "NID Vijaywada has got its campus in Acharya Nagarjun University in Vijaywada town of Andhra Pradesh. Our staff is there to assist them, the faculties and staff of NID will keep assisting the NID Vijaywada until a new director is appointed there” he said.
New NIDs are likely being set up within this year in Kurukshetra- Haryana,Bhopal- Madhya Pradesh, Jorhat- Assam. as soon as the government will allot lands for the institutes they will come up.
Design Aptitude Test (DAT) will be conducted for the admission in the institute on December 10, which will be monitored by NID Ahmedabad.
