The NSS unit of Nimra College of Engineering and Technology, Vijaywada organized a plantation campaign at Kondapalli Khilla road on March 30, 2016 as a part of its NSS activities. Around 25 students participated in this campaign. More than 150 saplings were planted at the both sides of the Khilla road.
The students were appreciated by the Principal of Nova Engineering College, Dr. Raju. He said that, “The NSS unit has been conducting a lot of activities for the past 3 days. The plantation program was highly successful as the people of surrounding areas showed interest in plantation”. He appreciated the management of Nimra Engineering College for their service activities.
NSS students opined that, “If we plant a tree, we plant a hope. By planting a tree we are giving a new hope to the society. The temperature of the Earth is gradually increasing day by day. Unless we plant trees, it would be very difficult to face the temperature especially in Summer. Now-a-days trees are being cut down various purposes and this lead to irregular rain fall. There must be sustainability between deforestation and afforestation”.
The NSS activities concluded on March 30, 2016 and the NSS volunteers were awarded with a certificate. The college management appreciated the NSS unit for their social activities.
