NISE Partners with UNIDO for Skill Development Programme

The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) has collaborated with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to start a skill development programme in the solar thermal energy sector. The collaboration is a part of MNRE-GEF-UNIDO project

NISE, National Institute of Solar Energy has collaborated with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The agreement between the two parties was signed on 7th August 2019 at the UNIDO office. The agreement was signed between Rene van Berkel, Representative of UNIDO in India and Director General of NISE, Dr AK Tripathi.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy stated the collaboration is a part of the ongoing MNRE-GEF-UNIDO project. According to the Ministry, National Institute of Solar Energy and United Nations Industrial Development Organization will develop specialized training material with the help of international and national experts.

The collaboration will support capacity building and also in skill development of technical manpower in the CST, Concentrated Solar Thermal Energy Technologies which are mainly used to replace the conventional fossil fuels for example diesel, coal, furnace oil, etc saving the costs.

National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of New and Renewable(MNRE).

United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is a specialized agency promoting industrial development for the reduction in poverty, including environmental sustainability and globalization. UNIDO has a total of 170 countries as its members. UNIDO’s mission is to accelerate and promote ISID, inclusive and sustainable industrial development in the member countries.
