For admissions to undergraduate engineering courses available in the different engineering colleges of Chhattisgarh, the Chhattisgarh Pre Engineering Test 2016 or CG PET 2016 is conducted as a common entrance test. CGPET is conducted by Directorate of Technical Education of Chhattisgarh.
CGPET going to be held on 17th April this year. In this context Directorate of Technical Education of Chhattisgarh has sent a proposal to Chhattisgarh Vyapam. The officials after going through the proposal came to this decision of giving reservation seats to the private institutions also.
Management quota has been allotted in the private Engineering colleges already. Due to this, private colleges were giving admissions against these 15% seats. While the rest of the 10% seats were getting filled on the basis of IIT & JEE results.
Now the 75% Engineering seats of the State will be filled on the basis of CGPET performance. This 75% has the reservation quota for Reserved categories which will be 12% for ST students & 32% for SC students. For the remaining backward categories there is a reservation of 14%. This reservation percent will be valid for both Government & Private Institutions. The 10% seats of IIT & JEE will be reserved for the other state students.
