45 AIQ Medical Seats Transferred to Odisha

Odisha Medical Seat Filling in All-India Quota

The OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination) Board has published a notice on Saturday, 27th June 2019 stating that 45 medical seats under AIQ quota have been transferred to the state quota. These seats will be filled through OJEE spot counselling. The provincial admission for these medical seats will be conducted in Odisha on 30th July, 31st July and 1st August.

There is a total of 1,400 medical seats in Odisha among which, 15% of the seats are reserved for All India Quota (AIQ) admissions. If the seats are vacant after all the admissions, the seats are generally filled by the domicile students. After the AIQ admission is over the counselling process turned towards the home students.

For 2019 session, there are 6 seats reserved in SCB Medical College & Hospital (SCB MCH), Cuttack for the all-India students. Similarly, there are 7 seats in MKCG MCH Berhampur, VIMSAR Burla and SCB Dental College. There are 6 seats reserved for Govt medical college Balangir as well. 5 seats are reserved in Pandit Raghunath Murmu medical college Baripada, 4 seats in Govt medical college Balasore, and 3 in SLN MCH Koraput.

A total of 259 MBBS and BDS seats in about 8 medical colleges are vacant and also in two private colleges after first OJEE counselling. Adding the AIQ seats, the total number of vacant seats in MBBS and BDS touched 304 which is available for NEET Seat Allotment Process.

The admissions through second counselling have already been started in the state from 27th July, however, the provincial admission will start from 30th July. The candidates selected for admissions are directed to report at the institute on 3rd August.

The Odisha JEE Board Chairman Mr SK Chand has informed that the students can also register for Spot Counselling on 2nd and 3rd August if seats lie vacant after admissions based on OJEE centralised counselling. The OJEE spot counselling for Medical Admission will be conducted between Augst 4th to 8th and the students will have to report at the institute on 12th August 2019. Spot counselling will not be available for students who appeared in the previous rounds of OJEE counselling.
