The government of Odisha will offer fellowships to some selected scholars who have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET), but could not qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship awarded by UGC.
Ananta Das, Education Minister of the state, confirmed the same on 14th November 2018. He launched the Odisha University Research and Innovation Incentivisation Plan scheme, which will promote research and will also bridge the gap in research activities in Odisha state universities.

The state will provide research fellowships to top NET qualifiers (keeping aside JRF) in each subject to pursue research in the state universities of Odisha.
The scholarship will be valid for four years but can be extended for one more year with an approval from the Odisha State Higher Education Council.
The selected scholars will be eligible for a fellowship of 15,000 per month with Rs.25,000 (contingency) for the subjects that include laboratory work. The state will offer five fellowships in each subject out of which two are reserved for female candidates.
Odisha Fellowship Eligibility Criteria:
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Odisha.
- The candidate must have qualified NET.
- Applicant must be below 30 years of age as on 1st January of the year in which the fellowship will be awarded.
