IGNOU will extend 15% discount to students who opt for e-study material. This will help in quick delivery of the study material to the enrolled students and also promote GoI's Digital India Movement.
It has been a year since IGNOU has announced the 15% fee waive off to popularize online study material. However, many students are still unaware of the scheme. The 15% discount scheme was launched on October 8 last year for the students who opt for obtaining the IGNOU study material form, e-Gyankosh.
Many students said they opted for printed study material because studying without books is something they are not used to. According to them, studying on books and computers is distracting for them.

As per the report, the discount is available to students who have completed the IGNOU admission process online. To obtain the discount, an online admission platform has been created. As soon as a student logs in, they are directed to the Option Form. It is where a student can exercise the option of whether to take a soft copy or printed study material by using the same login. On the other hand, a solution is being worked out for candidates who have taken admission offline. Once available, it will be notified to the students.

Meanwhile, IGNOU has also come up with an e-content app for the digital content of the university which is available on eGyankosh. Students can also visit their regional centre to opt for digital study material.
