OU Invites Applications for Foundation Course in Astronomy and Astrophysics

The Osmania University, Hyderabad has started inviting applications for a 10 Day certificate course in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Keeping the increasing demand for studying astrophysics in India in mind, Osmania University has been conducting this course for the last 3 years to encourage students for their career in studying the enormous cosmos.

The course named ‘Foundation Course in Astronomy and Astrophysics’ is set to commence from 8th July 2019 to 19th July 2019 under the supervision of the Department of Astronomy at Osmania University. The 10-day course will seek a total of 30 admissions for 2019 session. The course is mainly aimed at encouraging students in astronomy and astrophysics by giving them exposure. There will be also a field trip for students in the 2019 Foundation Course in Astronomy and Astrophysics in OU to Japal Rangpur Observatory (JRO) where the students will gain exposure in observing the space from observatories and their work process. The students will also receive lectures from recognised scientists in the field. Both theoretical and practical sessions will be conducted in the Foundation Course in Astronomy and Astrophysics at OU.

Eligibility Criteria of the Course in Astronomy and Astrophysics at OU

The course short term Foundation Course in Astronomy and Astrophysics course 2019 at Osmania University is designed for the 10+2 level students who take interest in the vast studies of Astronomy and Astrophysics. The course is available for applying in by the students who have completed 10+2 as well as those who are pursuing 10+2 level with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) subject combination. Knowledge of English is mandatory for applying students.

Students who have completed their graduation with Mathematics as a subject are also directly eligible for applying in the Foundation Course in Astronomy and Astrophysics in Osmania University 2019.

The Foundation Course in Astronomy and Astrophysics in Osmania University 2019 will conduct classes for students on popular topics of astronomy such as the Basics, Origin of Life, Solar System, Stellar Evolution, Galaxies, and Their Structures, Astrophotography and many more. The student will also lean to observe night sky on their trip to JRO.
