Over 32,000 students cleared the engineering entrance MHT-CET from Nagpur division comprising six districts this year. They would compete for about 24,000 engineering seats, 990 pharmacy, 580 architecture and 160 hotel management courses.
3.97 lakh appeared for the engineering examination held on May 5. Of them, 26,598 from Nagpur University and 6,012 students from neighbouring Gondwana University cleared the exam.
This year DTE have introduced a new process for Engineering admissions.
The new process is named as 'freeze/slide/float' where the students would be able to participate in second, third and fourth rounds if they failed to get the college of their choice after the first round. They would be provided with maximum 300 options. However, if they secure a seat in the first choice, they won't be able to participate in subsequent rounds,
In a freeze, the aspirants have no option of changing the stream or college, slide option allows them to change the stream, but not college while float option helps candidates to switch their stream along with their college. Even after freeze option, the candidate can apply in the fourth round. This will create maximum opportunities for candidates to get the better college or their desired stream.
About 48 facilitation centres were opened in Nagpur division where application form confirmation and document verification will be conducted. In Nagpur, the students can access these facilities at LIT, Ramdeobaba, GH Raisoni, Guru Nanak, KDK, Priyadarshini and other engineering colleges.
