The online registrations for admissions to undergraduate programmes in Delhi University closed on 7th June 2018. As per the records, 2,78,574 candidates have registered for various programmes out of which 1,02,055 candidates are from reserved categories. (SC/ST/OBC). On the other hand, it was witnessed that more than 60,000 candidates are from Other Backward Classes (OBC).
As per the guidelines, the OBC certificates should be latest and must be valid at the time of admission. The administration said that the caste should be clearly mentioned in the certificate and the caste must be specified in the central government list for the admissions. Apart from this, the certificate should not be in the name of the parents rather the candidate seeking admission should have certificates in their own names.

Talking about SC (scheduled castes) candidates, more than 34,000 applications were received by the university, which comprised 12.5% of the total registered applicants. Apart from these, the varsity has received 12,423 applications under the sports quota category. The sports trial for DU admissions 2018 will be held at various colleges affiliated to the university. The varsity will release the first list of sports quota on 9th July and shortlisted candidates can confirm their admissions by 11th June.

As per the reports, the number of male applicants this academic year is 1,44,248 while the number of female applicants in undergraduate admissions is 1,34,287. Also, the university has received 533 applications in the Kashmiri migrants category.
