Preparations for Centenary Fete of Osmania University Underway

Preparations for centenary celebrations of Osmania University (OU) are underway. Kadiyam Srihari, Deputy Chief Minister of the State, conducted a review meeting with the officials of Education Department and Osmania University on October 26, 2016. On this occasion, Prof. Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor of OU gave a detailed Powerpoint presentation on various activities that are lined up for the centenary celebrations.

Kadiyam Srihari clarified that a three-day inaugural programme will be conducted that is scheduled to commence from April 26, 2017. President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, is likely to grace the inaugural session of centenary celebrations.

Prof. Ramachandram explained that Nobel Laureates and Luminaries will be invited as speakers and a special song written by famous lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja will be played in the inaugural session. The song explains the history and progress of university over the years.

As a part of the inaugural session, a seminar on ‘Role Played by Osmania University in Promoting Education’ will be organised where distinguished alumni of the varsity will deliver their speech on the theme. The inaugural session will also consist of cultural activities which highlight the glorious history of OU and various events which depict the culture of Telangana will also be organised as a part of centenary celebrations.

The inaugural session will be followed by year-long events and activities which include science exhibitions, international conferences, science congress, national sports events, social science congress and release of four compendiums on “Role of OU in Nation Building” and “Osmania University History” in English, Telugu and Urdu.
