President of India, Pranab Mukherjee has accepted the invitation to attend the centenary celebrations of Osmania University which will commence from April 26, 2017. Shri Pranab Mukherjee will be the Chief Guest, and the curtain raiser lecture will be delivered by Nobel Laureate Prof. Kurt Wuthrich on February 10, 2017.

Chief Minister of Telangana, Chandrashekara Rao visited Delhi on February 4, 2017, and met President of India and invited him personally to the celebrations. He thanked him for accepting the invitation. The CM also wanted to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but he was unavailable due to a busy schedule. The meeting with PM has been fixed for February 15, 2017.

One of the officials of Osmania University revealed that the celebrations would take place in a grand manner. The Chief Minister had issued directions to organise the celebrations on a large scale. Various cultural and literary events are lined up for the celebrations.
The centenary celebrations will also witness guest lectures from nobel laureates. Apart from these events, a special song on OU centenary celebrations will be sung at the inauguration. A special documentary on OU will be screened during the inaugural celebrations.
Various cultural events which depict the culture of Telangana will be the highlight of the celebrations. The celebrations will be held throughout the year. The government wants to make celebrations a landmark in the history of Osmania University.
