Aligarh Muslim University’s annual convocation ceremony was held in a grand manner on March 07, 2018. President of India Shri. Ram Nath Kovind was the Chief Guest of the AMU 65th convocation ceremony. As per the directions of the VC of AMU graduating students were present at the venue on time and ensured smooth conduct of the event. Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Ram Naik was also present on the occasion.
It is after 32 years that an Indian President has attended the AMU convocation. In 1986, former President of India, Giani Zail Singh graced the convocation ceremony of AMU.

Addressing the graduating students, President Kovind recalled the significant contribution of AMU alumni in India's development. He regarded the graduating students of AMU as 'Bharat Bhagya Vidhata' and hoped that these students would play a dominant role in taking India to the new heights with contributions in national building. The students of this esteemed university have excelled in varied fields such as science, law, education, administration and politics. Former President of India, Dr. Zakir Hussian and Anti-Apartheid Activist, Dr. Yusuf Mohammad Dadoo are the best examples in this regard, he highlighted.
This year, a total number of 218 students received medals, and 122 were female students among them. President of India and Governor of Uttar Pradesh presented the medals to the students and congratulated them for outshining men.

Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Ram Naik pointed that women are dominating all professions including the esteemed air force and other defence services.
Vice Chancellor of AMU, Professor Tariq Mansoor presented a memento to President of India.
