On 11 February, 2016, around 4:30 pm, the students of Doon University, Dehradun along with people of ABVP (AKHIL BHARTIYA VIDYARTHI PARISHAD) protested in the Doon University college campus locked the administration gate and sat outside the gate for hours disrupting normal life at the campus.
Students are angry and agitated as they believe a college/ university should have a student union which would have some powers to help students reach the solutions to their problems that they face many times in college which are not looked upon by the departments and the higherm authorities in time and sometimes never.
The students also raised their voice saying that there are a few teachers that have come to the college without clearing NET (National Eligibility Test) and thus should not be allowed only because they are here by the recruitment of higher officials which will ultimately affect the students and their career as well. The sources said that the students has repeatedly been writing applications and talking to the officials to give a conclusion but nothing concrete came up ever and hence this happened.
The Vice-Chancellor Mr V.K. Jain of the college was out of time and hence the students went back to their respective places, telling all those present very firmly that they would come back and get what they want and deserve.
