Punjab Sports University is being set up to promote education in the areas of sports sciences, sports technology, sports management and sports coaching. The admissions will start from the month of September.
Punjab State Government is all set to open a Sports University in Patiala. The notification came after the Punjab Sports University Ordinance 2019 by V.P. Singh Badnore. The ordinance regarding the same has been approved by the Punjab Cabinet on 6th June 2019.
According to the officials, the decks to start the admissions from September were decided during a high-level meeting if the steering committee regarding the establishment of the Sports University. The meeting took place last month.
The establishment of Sports University will promote education and awareness about Sports Sciences, Sports Coaching, Sports Management and Sports Technology. The university will focus on academics, training and research in the field of sports, sports management. The university will have a high standard infrastructure which is one of the important criteria in the field of sports.

The Sports University will serve as a Centre of Excellence for the talented and motivated sportspersons to carry out all the sport-related research and innovation. This will also help to generate capabilities to enhance the skills at various levels in the field of sports management, sports technology and high-performance training.
This will serve as a platform for a talented sportsperson to pursue their dreams and build a successful career for themselves.
