The online registrations for UG courses at Delhi University for the academic session 2017-18 began on May 22, 2017, at 6:00 PM. There was a tremendous response from the students as around 200 candidates registered within the first 10 minutes. The varsity further expects about 10,000 registrations by 6:00 PM today. However, to the varsity’s surprise, 6,300 candidates registered for various courses by 7:30 PM on May 22, 2017 itself.
It was revealed that despite the university's wide range of courses to choose from, most of the candidates registered for B.A English (Hons) and B.Com courses. Coming to Sports Category, most of the candidates registered for Basketball. On the other hand, many candidates registered for dance category under ECA or Extra Curricular Activities.
Initially, students raised complaints about the website not functioning properly. However, the varsity claimed that there were no technical glitches. Due to the large traffic of students on the website for registrations, it might have become slow and irresponsive in between. The online registration for the admission to merit-based UG courses will end on June 12, 2017. Delhi University will release the first cut-off list on June 20, 2017. Usually, the cut-offs in the first list are high.
The varsity plans to release six cut-off lists this year. Depending on the number of seats vacant, it may also release the seventh cut-off list followed by the eighth cut-off list, if needed.
Most of the admission guidelines remained same, and there were no major changes. This year, the reservation for disability quota increased from three to five percent.
