Candidates who have received offers from participating IITs and other institutes now have the option to make decisions regarding their admissions by May 20, 2025. Aspirants will be required to take action on their allotment, whether they want to confirm their allotment or wait for further rounds. The available options to the aspirants are ‘Accept and Freeze’ or ‘Retain and Wait’ or ‘Reject all above and wait’.

Detailed instructions on Retain and Wait after COAP Round 1 Offers 2025
When a candidate selects the Retain and Wait option, they agree to hold on to their current offer (retention) while remaining eligible to be considered for higher-preference offers in the next rounds (waiting). Below here, the detailed instructions on retain and wait after COAP Round 1 Offers 2025 are provided.
This option can be used only if the candidate has received more than one offer or expects an upgrade and must not have already "Accept and Freeze" for any offer in previous rounds.
The “Retain and Wait” option is designed for candidates who are satisfied with their current offer but still wish to be considered for higher preferences in future rounds.
Candidates can select the “Retain and Wait” option only once per round and must respond within the round’s deadline.
It is mandatory to log in to the COAP portal during each round and submit a response for the offer.
This option can be used up to Round 4 only. From Round 5 onwards, only “Accept and Freeze” and “Reject and Wait” will be available.
If a better offer is made in the next round, the current retained offer will be automatically upgraded, and the older offer will no longer be valid.
Offers once rejected or skipped in earlier rounds cannot be retrieved.
