Rhodes Scholarship 2019: Application Process Closes on 31st July

Rhodes Scholarship is among the most prestigious scholarships that are offered to Indian students. It is a fully funded scholarship offered to a total of 5 students for postgraduate studies at Oxford University that is administered by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford. Interested applicants who are motivated to engage in global challenges and are committed to serve and become future leaders are encouraged to apply for the Rhodes Scholarship 2019 latest by 31st July 2018.

Eligibility for Rhodes Scholarship 2019:

  • To apply for Rhodes Scholarship, applicants must be a citizen of India. PIO or OCI card holders are not eligible for the same.
  • Students must have studied at least for 4 years of formal study experience in India out of the last 10 years or they must have completed 10th or 12th at a school in India or be in the final year of bachelor’s degree in an Indian university.
  • Age Limit: To be eligible for the Rhodes Scholarship, students must be 19 years old and should not be more than 25 years of age as on 1st October 2019. This means that the student should be born after 30th September 1994 or before 1st October 2000.
  • However, for students pursuing medical programmes the age limit is extended by one year.
  • Students must have completed their bachelor’s degree by June/July 20198 with first division.

Rhodes Scholarship 2019 Application Process:

  • Students can apply online latest by 31st July 2018 by 23.59 India Standard Time with all the mandatory documents.
  • Before sumbitting the application, students are requested to carefully go through all the terms and conditions of Rhodes Scholarship.
  • The students who are longlisted will be invited for a preliminary or an interview session at Delhi or Bangalore. In case, one is not residing in India the interview may be conducted on telephone or via video call.
  • Selected candidates will be invited for a social reception and an interview. The final selection of the students will be on this basis of the interview
  • Candidates should be available for both social recpetion and interview. The interview will take place in Delhi either in the month of October or November 2018.
  • Travel expeses for the candidates will be paid by the Rhodes Trust itself. However, international travel will not be reimbursed.

Important Documents Required for Rhodes Scholarship 2019:

  • Birth Certificate
  • An official transcript from the college or university at which the student is studying, or has studied in the past.
  • A copy of a valid passport, confirming the students' citizenship criteria.
  • In case, the student is neither a graduate from a university in India nor in the final year of the bachelor degree, they must provide an evidence of formal study of education in India for at least 4 years of the last 10 years.
  • Students will be required to provide a full curriculum vitae which will have all the information such as academic qualifications of the students, prizes and awards, professional experience, voluntary work, sports accomplishments, political, cultural or other accomplishments. However, the CV should not exceed two A4 pages in length. No photograph is required in the CV.

Selection Procedure for Rhodes Scholarship 2019:

  • The selection for the Rhodes Scholarship is made without any consideration of the social status, race, caste, color gender, social background, or any other irrelevant distinction.
  • In case they meet the eligibility criteria for more than one Rhodes constituency, you must apply to one constituency only.
  • The Rhodes Scholarship is confirmed only upon candidates' successful admission to the University of Oxford
  • If the Selection Committee does not find a sufficiently qualified candidate they will not make a selection.
