SGPC, Amritsar Gets the Status of a Univeristy

On Tuesday, Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research earned the reputation of a private University. The college is run by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). Also, the government has given a thumbs up to the setting up of Khalsa university on the Khalsa College campus.

A yes was given to both the above proposals a long back but the final approval was pending from the Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal’s end.

Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research is named after the fourth Sikh and the founder of Amritsar, Guru Ram Das. Also, the college’s chairman is SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar and the college is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS). After the college gets the status of a University, the college will no longer operate with affiliation to BFUHS.
