The Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK) once again failed to fulfill its examination duties on time by failing to check the re-evaluation applications on time. In his latest notification on April 14, controller of examinations (CoE) Mahesh Kakade said that the numbers of applications for re-evaluation are too high to check it within the stipulated time due to the on-going semester examination.

Kakade further has asked students who are yet to get their final result of re-evaluated papers to appear for the said exams paper along with the on-going engineering exam which will start from Monday. He added, University has declared results of many students till date, however due to sheer number of students it is not possible to declare results of the remaining students before the start of the upcoming engineering semester exam. Such students should be instructed to appear for the about to be re-evaluated paper.

On the re-evaluation marks, he added that the marks of the students after re-evaluation and the ones that after appearing for the re-examination will be compared and highest marks will be granted to the individual.
An engineering student from the city based college said that the exam will be starting from Monday and the university is telling us to re-appear for the previous semesters paper is not at all acceptable.

In both cases we will be the ones who will suffer due to the exam departments negligence. If the university cannot finish checking the re-evaluated papers, it should bring more teachers to complete the said task, they cannot find alternatives like this on end time, added the student. SUK has been in trouble over the October 2015 semester examination result due to various small and big time errors showing off frequently in the students result.

In fact, in the last week of March, the lapses committee of the university has already fined seven faculties related to various exam related work for their sloppy work in the October 2015 semester examination result.
Desperate to recover from these errors ridden bumpy rides, the examination department has even drawn a circular suggesting the measures to the speedy result in the first week of this month.

In the circular it has asked the teachers to keep the aim of 10 days for the evaluation time, while the principals have been told to send the names of the teachers doing dilly-dally in their work. An action on such faculties would be possible with the Maharashtra Universities act 1994, it added. The March 2016 semester examination has been started from March 15 and likely to end by first week of May.
