Skill Oriented Course Introduced in Amity

As part of the “Skill India Mission” launched by Prime Minister of India, Amity University has taken a lead by launching Skill Oriented Courses for the under graduate and post graduate students in 13 Departments / Institutes of the University. These skill oriented programmes are aligned with the National Occupational Standards (NOSs) issued by the respective Sector Skill Councils.

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), an umbrella body encompassing all the sector Skill Councils, has acknowledged that Amity University is the first University in India which has taken such a strong lead in launching the skill courses for the under-graduate and graduate students, making Amity University the pioneer in launching such courses.

Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group said “India not only needs educated but skilled and educated youth who could actively contribute to the mission “Skill India”. “This Certificate would give an added advantage to the profile of the students since the course curriculum is designed by the industry and the courses are promoted by the Government of India providing them additional skills apart from educations.”

During the current semester, thousands of students have enrolled for the various skill courses in Amity. After the completion of the course, the students will be assessed by the respective Sector Skill Councils and get an additional certificate bearing the logo of Sector Skill Council, NSDC and Govt of India.

Various job roles for which Amity students will be skilled and trained in association with related Sector Skill Councils include “QA Standard In-Charge” (Automotive Skill Development Council), “Embedded Software Engineer” (Electronics Sector Skill Council of India), “Waste Water System Designer” (Indian Plumbing Skill Council), “Test Engineer”, “Web Developer”, “Associate Network Engineer”, “Software Developer” (IT/ITES Sector Council), “Medical Sales Representative” (Life Sciences Sector Skill Council, “Agriculture Extension Executive” (Agriculture Skill Council of India), “Housekeeping Supervisor” (Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council), “Video Editing” (Media and Entertainment Skill Council), “Telecom Field Maintenance Engineer”, “Telecom Infrastructure Engineer”, “BSS Support Engineer”, “Territory Manager Sales Broadband” (Telecom Sector Skill Council) and others.
