Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is going to be the first university in India which will be hosting the Indo French knowledge summit in the upcoming year 2021. The summit will be conducted on March 4 and 5. Through the summit, SPPU aims to improve the cultural interaction and also enhance the cooperation between the industries, academia, students and universities.
In a recent press meet, Sonia Barbry, Consul-General of France in Mumbai and SPPU Vice-Chancellor Nitin Karmalkar said that the first summit was held in the year 2018 in Delhi which was conducted after India visit of French President Emmanuel Macron. Last year, the summit was conducted at Université de Lyon, France and was dedicated to higher education, research and innovation. In the year 2021, the third edition of the knowledge summit will be conducted.

In context to the summit, Barbry stated that the knowledge summit will be determined to focus on the establishment between both countries which enhanced the innovative, academic and scientific cooperation. She further added that there has been a constant increase in Indian students to opt for higher studies in France, which inspires us to strengthen cooperation between India and France. The current strength of Indian students in France is 10,000 which is expected to double after the third edition of knowledge summit.
Similar to the previous years’ edition, in the upcoming year also, the ministry from both countries will inaugurate the summit comprising of over 300-400 participants. Several high-level enterprises from both countries, research and higher education institutes, corporates and media will be brought together in the summit.
