- Department of Chemistry at SRM Institute of Science & Technology is organising International Conference on Advance Medical Chemistry (ICAMC) 2018.
- The conference was inaugurated on February 14 and will conclude on February 16, 2018.
The Department of Chemistry at SRM Institute of Science & Technology (deemed-to-be university) has inaugurated the second edition of ICAMC (International Conference on Advance Medical Chemistry) on February 14, 2018. The conference is being organised in association with IRD India and Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, France. This year, the theme of the conference is ‘Advancements in the Field of Materials Chemistry’. The conference is also focusing on new strategies for the development of novel materials for the Global requirement.
The Chief Guest for the inaugural function was Chairperson of NAAC Executive Committee, Professor Virendra Singh Chauhan. He formally inaugurated the conference and released the proceedings. Founder & Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Dr. DR Paarivendhar presided over the function.

Addressing the participants of the conference, Professor Virendra Singh Chauhan highlighted the significance of the interdisciplinary research. ICAMC 2018 is a fantastic platform to carry out research discussion on science. Exchange of ideas and scientific thoughts will be possible through discussions. He urged the students to do research for the societal causes. After his initial address, Professor VS Chauhan gave an outstanding demonstration of translational research.
During the presidential address, Dr. DR Paarivendhar pointed that the conference is an important platform for sharing ideas. He suggested the Chemistry Department shall conduct more conferences to discuss and share the notable achievements in their field. Nobel Prize would not have incepted without the research on Chemistry by Alfred Nobel, he pointed.

On Day 1 of the conference, the special address was delivered by: -
- Professor Haueisen from BMIT Germany
- Dr. Eric Doris from CEA France
- Professor Chang Woo Lee from Kyung Hee University
- Dr. B. Chandrasekaran, CLRI Chennai
All the speakers concluded that science is all about posing questions and answering them.
After the formal inaugural function, technical sessions were conducted. Professors, Ph.D. Scholars, Experts in the field from India and abroad presented their research papers on the theme. A poster presentation session was also organised during the conference.
The conference has received more than 300 research articles which will be published in the ‘Materials Today Proceedings (Elsevier)’.
Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi and Vice President of India, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu greeted the conference with their message.
The ICAMC 2018 will conclude on February 16, 2018.
