UP Govt. Scraps Interviews for Government Jobs of Class 2, 3, 4 Posts

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath announced that the state government has scrapped the interview stage for recruitment to government jobs of Class 2 (non-gazette), Class 3 (clerical) and Class 4 (peon) posts in Uttar Pradesh. He recommended a CBI inquiry into the appointments made by UPPSC i.e. Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission over the last five years and the recruitment will be strictly based on marks obtained by the candidates in the written examination.

CM of Uttar Pradesh took the decision on August 29, 2017, at the Cabinet meeting where he pointed that there were numerous irregularities in the recruitment process of Class 2, 3 and 4 posts over the past five years. The idea to scrap interviews for these posts will regulate the loopholes and corruption in the recruitment process.

In December 2015, Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi scrapped the interviews in Group B, C and D posts of the union government as well which were included in the ‘Sankalp Patra 2017’ of BJP.

Due to the increasing demand for government jobs, irregularities have been on the rise which needed to be put an end to. The government was of the opinion that conducting interviews for these posts may result in favouritism. Whereas, on the other hand, a written examination will check all the irregularities through a system of coding.
